Maybe it’s in our nature to take everything for granted. To believe that what we have, is normal to be having and it couldn’t be any other way. Well, it could surely be another way. Things could be much worse. But you are lucky enough and unfortunately you don’t see that.
We always think about what we’re missing. I could have a better house, a better car, more money, etc. Somehow what we already have, is not taken in any consideration at all. We are not satisfied or grateful because there are so many more to have. Well, if you feel that way, bear in mind that you could not have all these as well. So maybe it’s time to appreciate that not so humble state you are in and quit whining.
Focus on what you have. Even for a few minutes in the morning, when you wake up, take some time to be grateful. Remind yourself what’s good and beautiful. Gratitude is a skill that needs practice. It requires some effort in order to become a habit. Gratitude is one of the keys to happiness. Take a deep breath and say “thank God” for being able to open your eyes and start a new day.
How many times have we heard of people that went through some really difficult times saying, “Now I feel grateful”. Afterwards. When you risk loosing all that you have taken for granted, you realise how important they were. Our health is on the top of the list. Without being healthy, nothing else matters.
